As part of its ongoing commitment to transparency and sustainable development, ElvalHalcor has published its first Sustainability Statement in alignment with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). This milestone marks a significant step in the company’s sustainability journey, reinforcing its pledge to responsible production and long-term value creation for all stakeholders.
The newly published 2024 Annual Report offers a comprehensive overview of ElvalHalcor’s performance across all material sustainability topics and reflects the company’s clear alignment with EU regulatory expectations. It also showcases the company’s efforts to contribute to a low-carbon, circular economy while maintaining strong social and governance performance. Report highlights include:
- Double Materiality Assessment
ElvalHalcor updated its double materiality assessment at the sector level to identify key impacts, risks, and opportunities. The process aligns with ESRS requirements and the consolidated results for the Group are published in the current disclosure. - Scope 3 Emissions Reporting
Building on its previous sustainability report, ElvalHalcor calculated Scope 3 emissions across all relevant categories in accordance with the GHG Protocol. This effort supports risk and opportunity evaluation across the value chain. - Participation in Climate Week NYC
As a member of the Global Beverage Can Circularity Alliance (GBCCA), ElvalHalcor’s aluminium rolling division participated in a panel on aluminium can recycling during Climate Week NYC. Discussions focused on recycling infrastructure, data improvement, policy recommendations, and support for Deposit Return Schemes (DRS). - Enhancing Circularity in Aluminium Cans
Elval, together with three members of the European Aluminium Packaging Group (EAPG), launched a project to standardize alloys used in can lids to increase scrap content and boost circularity. - Investments in Smart Material and Energy Management
ElvalHalcor invested in advanced systems that optimize raw material mixing and boost secondary metal use. In 2024, these systems were extended to the copper extrusion segment. - Viridis Suite for Energy Efficiency
The aluminium rolling division implemented the Viridis Energy & Sustainability Suite in partnership with SMS Group. This marks a major step toward smart, energy-efficient, and sustainable industrial operations. - Sustainability Ratings and Certifications
In 2024, ElvalHalcor earned a Gold rating and Symetal a Platinum rating from EcoVadis, reflecting strong ESG performance. Additionally, Elval renewed its ASI Chain of Custody certification, enabling sourcing and distribution of sustainable aluminium through robust supply chains.
