For this reason, Halcor continuously invests in research, development, and innovation (R&D&I) to enhance its state-of-the-art copper manufacturing facilities, introduce advanced metallurgical solutions, and offer cutting-edge copper products and integrated solutions that address specific customer needs. In collaboration with Elkeme (Hellenic Research Centre for Metals), Halcor promotes R&D in the copper sector, building expertise and ensuring we meet the most demanding and diversified customer requirements.

Halcor’s Technology Department.

Our Technology Department manages R&D projects, developing new and enhanced copper products that provide added-value solutions for clients and end-users. We design new copper alloys for advanced applications, such as high-strength alloys for high-pressure refrigeration systems, lead-free brass alloys for sustainable plumbing parts and fittings, and high-forming copper and brass tubes for specialised HVAC&R and automotive applications. Halcor also provides a Client Technical Service (CTS) to customise product designs, such as pre-insulated copper tubes and brass rods for specific conditions, ensuring technical excellence and product optimisation for every application such as:

  • copper and brass tubes designed for intricate bending and expansion,

  • copper tubes designed for specific pressure ratings depending on refrigerant type,

  • customisation of pre-insulated copper tubes with in- house design and production of thermal insulation for enhanced reaction to fire,

  • selection of optimum brazing conditions in tube joints,

  • design of brass rods and wire for specific machining conditions and

  • technical consultation on chemical compatibility with water and other chemical mixtures.

Our Tube Heat Transfer Laboratory.

Halcor is proud of its innovative Tube Heat Transfer Laboratory, located in our Oinofyta plant, Greece. This state-of-the-art lab, designed according to international standards, enables us to meet complex customer specifications for the manufacturing of Talos®IGT seamless copper tubes, featuring internal grooves which significantly enhance the amount of heat transfer during evaporation or condensation of refrigerants. Our lab is one of the few globally dedicated to testing the heat transfer efficiency of plain and inner-grooved copper tubes. Test data derived from the laboratory enables Halcor to offer specialised technical support to manufacturers of heat-exchangers. By optimising heat-exchanger design for greater energy efficiency, we provide a valuable advantage to our clients in the HVAC&R industry.
