Our in-house  Technology and Innovation Centre develops value-added aluminium solutions to meet evolving customer needs. Elval’s onsite Technology & Innovation Centre, located in Oinofyta, is the core of our aluminium innovations. This team of aluminium industry experts is responsible for  R&D in product design, process innovation, and customers’ specialised technical support for custom aluminium solutions. 

The TCentre continually develops optimised alloys  and technical processes to meet customers’ unique specifications and industry demands. Key initiatives, include: 

  1. Fine-tuning Can Body Stock (CBS) alloys to enhance formability and performance in can production.
  2. Developing new brazing products for battery cooling systems in electric vehicle (EV) platforms, a rapidly expanding market.
  3. Designing in-house optimisers to increase production machine capacity, maximise scrap recycling, and minimise primary aluminium usage, thus reducing our CO₂ footprint.
  4. Innovating metal-lacquer systems for the food and beverage industry to meet higher consumer standards.
  5. Employing Statistical Process Control (SPC) with advanced software for monitoring critical production parameters across each stage.

Elval’s Metallurgy Centre, part of the Technology & Innovation Centre, stands as a premier aluminium metallurgy research laboratory. Equipped with state-of-the-art machinery and staffed by highly specialised and talented engineers, the lab focuses on creating advanced aluminium alloys, monitoring existing products, evaluating the quality of melted metals, and resolving production challenges. This center is instrumental in developing new alloys with superior technical properties and optimal cost efficiency, aligning with customer specifications and environmental objectives. Recognised as a driving force of innovation, the Metallurgy Centre is integral to ElvalHalcor’s aluminium rolling division.
