A meaningful initiative to enhance prevention, operational readiness and the protection of the greater area
ElvalHalcor officially handed over a modern vehicle, equipped with a state-of-the-art firefighting system, to the volunteer forest firefighters of the Avlonas Compulsory Cooperative, tangibly strengthening the area’s forest fire protection and rapid response capabilities.
The handover ceremony was attended by representatives of ElvalHalcor, the Avlonas Compulsory Cooperative, the local community and the Church, highlighting the importance of cooperation between businesses and local stakeholders in effectively addressing the risks associated with forest fires.
The donation is part of ElvalHalcor’s corporate responsibility programme, ”By Your Side Creating Value”, through which the company designs and implements initiatives that address the real needs of the local communities. Given the critical importance of early intervention in containing wildfires, = the new vehicle is expected to become a valuable operational asset for the Cooperative’s volunteer forest firefighters.
During the ceremony, Mr. Epameinondas Dimitriou, President of the Avlonas Compulsory Cooperative, stated: “ElvalHalcor’s donation significantly enhances the operational readiness of our volunteer forest firefighters and provides us with a modern resource to protect the natural environment, the properties and people in our area. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to ElvalHalcor for supporting our mission.”
Mr. Ioannis Koufopanos, R&D Project Evaluation Director of Elval, Aluminium Rolling Division of ElvalHalcor, mentioned: “Protecting the people and the natural environment of the local communities is a longstanding priority for ElvalHalcor. Acknowledging the importance of rapid response and effective fire suppression, we provide tangible support to volunteer forest protection and firefighting teams, by supplying them with the appropriate equipment to carry out their demanding mission more effectively.”
