European recognition reinforces Greece’s strategic position in critical raw materials and confirms ElvalHalcor’s leading role in advancing the circular economy.
ElvalHalcor welcomes the selection of two of its investment plans plans in the EU list of Strategic Projects under the Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA).The selected projects are the company’s new aluminium recycling centre within ElvalHalcor’s Aluminium Segment and ETEOCLES, an innovative project within its Copper Segment focused on the recovery and re-utilisation of low-grade copper scrap.
The European Commission’s decision comes at a pivotal moment for Europe, as secure access to critical raw materials has emerged as a strategic imperative for Europe's competitiveness, green transition and strategic autonomy. Strengthening Europe’s capabilities in recycling and metal processing is increasingly recognised as a key priority, reducing external dependencies while enhancing the resilience of industrial value chains that support critical sectors of the economy.
The selection of these projects places Greece at the forefront of the European Union’s effort to strengthen industrial competitiveness and build a more resilient and sustainable economic model. At the same time, it demonstrates that Greek manufacturing is not just an economic pillar but also a valuable source of innovation, state of the art industrial expertise and economic resilience, contributing decisively to Europe’s strategic goals.
It is also a recognition of ElvalHalcor’s leading role within the European aluminium and copper value chains. Through its strong production footprint, export-oriented business model and continuous investment in advanced recycling technologies, the company actively supports Europe’s transition towards a more circular economy by keeping valuable raw materials within the European economy.
ElvalHalcor’s projects are closely aligned with a broader vision for the future of European industry. By linking circularity with supply-chain security and sustainable industrial development, these projects contribute to strengthening Europe’s industrial base, enhancing strategic autonomy and reinforcing the long-term competitiveness of the European economy.
